Biography

Ashley Lim

Ashley Lim is a multifaceted harpist whose work spans solo, orchestral, and chamber performance, having performed extensively throughout North America, Europe and Asia. Beyond the concert stage, she is also a trained harp technician, combining her artistry as a performer with a specialised understanding of the instrument.

As an orchestral musician, Lim joined the Binghamton Philharmonic Orchestra in 2026 as principal harpist. Prior to this, Lim held the position of Principal Harpist with The Orchestra Now, a pre-professional orchestral fellowship program based at Bard College. She has performed with the North Carolina Symphony, Richmond Symphony and The New World Symphony. Her performances have brought her to prominent venues including Carnegie Hall, Jazz at Lincoln Center and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. She has appeared at the Aspen Music Festival, Bowdoin International Music Festival and Bard Music Festival.

To deepen her knowledge and understanding of the harp, Lim apprenticed with Lyon & Healy and Salvi Harps in 2021 and subsequently trained under master harp technician Peter Wiley, where she continues to expand her technical expertise through ongoing study and mentorship with Wiley.

Alongside her performing career, Lim is a dedicated educator. She has held teaching appointments as Adjunct Lecturer of Harp at Bard College and music faculty at Bard Pre-College. She also maintains a private harp studio. Passionate about community engagement, Lim designed and led music workshops for underserved children in upstate New York as well as back in Singapore, using music to foster creativity and connection.

Lim is currently pursuing a Graduate Performance diploma at the Peabody Institute of Music at Johns Hopkins University under the tutelage of Dr. June Han. Lim also holds a Master of Music degree from the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, where she studied with Dr. Gillian Sella, and a Bachelor of Music from both the Royal College of Music (London) and Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, where she trained with Gulnara Mashurova.
