Singaporean harpist Ashley Lim is an emerging artist whose playing is distinguished by its lyrical expression, technical fluency, and refined musical sensibility. Currently based in Maryland, she is pursuing a Graduate Performance Diploma at the Peabody Conservatory of Music under Dr. June Han.
Prior to this, Ashley held the position of Principal Harpist with The Orchestra Now, a pre- professional orchestral fellowship program based at Bard College. During this time, she also held teaching appointments as Adjunct Lecturer of Harp at Bard College and music faculty at Bard Pre-College.
As an active orchestral player, she has performed with the Albany Symphony, North Carolina Symphony, Buffalo Philharmonic, The Syracuse Orchestra, and Binghamton Philharmonic. Her performances have brought her to prominent venues including Carnegie Hall, Jazz at Lincoln Center, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and Symphony Space. She has also participated in the Bowdoin International Music Festival and Bard Music Festival.
Ashley holds a Master of Music degree from the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, where she studied with Dr. Gillian Sella, and a Bachelor of Music from both the Royal College of Music (London) and Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, where she trained with Gulnara Mashurova. To further her appreciation and understanding of her instrument, Ashley was an apprentice under Lyon & Healy and Salvi harps, and is a trained harp technician/regulator.
Internationally recognized, Ashley was selected to represent Singapore at the USA International Harp Competition and was awarded 3rd Prize at the Rising Stars Grand Prix International Music Competition in Berlin.
Passionate about community engagement, Ashley designed and led music workshops for underserved children in upstate New York as well as back in Singapore, using music to foster creativity and connection. She currently maintains a private harp studio and is dedicated to mentoring the next generation of harpists.
Deeply committed to orchestral, solo, and chamber music, Ashley continues to explore and expand the expressive capabilities of the harp across a diverse range of repertoire.
